Mud Flaps

A couple weeks ago I noticed a "thump, thump" coming from beneath the RV. Checked under carriage, etc., and didn't see anything that would jump out at me.

As I was backing the RV to get nearer to the freshwater outlet this AM I was reminded of the "thump, thump" with an added "crunch". The driver's side mud flap was just barely hanging by the remaining nut and bolt.

An inspection of the mud flap and flap hanger left me with the conculsion that I had at some time or another dropped off the edge of the road or a curbing and pushed the flap upward with enough force to shear one of the mounting bolts.

Glad I was home at the time as I got a set (nut, bolt, and 2 washers) to reinstall the mud flap. While I was down there I checked the remaining bolt on that flag plus those on the pax-side mud flap.

Early Axis/Vegas units had the issue where the passenger side mudflap would come into contact with the exhaust pipe and melt. (Put some mudflap weights on mine to fix that issue.)

Never heard of it being yanked off!

Glad to hear that you found the "issue"; before it became a "problem..."

I spent a few hours today getting to know my Axis and saw that I have a melted mudflap on the passenger's side.

Melted passenger flap for me too.
The repair will be part of my fender well project.

Can I ask about the fender well project? Is that related to a known Thor issue like the melted mud flap?
