constant current draw on Chateau 31

I have a 31 ft, 2005 Chateau. with all fuses pulled I still have a 2 amp. current draw measured at the battery. all lights are off and nothing 12V is on that I can find.....any suggestions where this could be coming from ? Is it possible that the generator has something making this draw ? any help would be appreciated.

thanks, I'll check that. But 2 amp draw for a smoke detector sounds a little hefty

Power Drain

Have you checked to make sure it is not the inverter? The inverter will draw power without any output load.

Yeah that is a lot of amperage for smoke detector. The wire to the radio(s) is a good start. The one in my coach will pull at least 1 amp and I always pull the fuse if I am not going to have it connected to shore power while setting. If you have an inverter, make sure it is turned off as it will use power just to be on. Clock radio in bedroom. GPS plugged in will be charging.

the only REAL way to defeat any and all 'silent' draws is to totally disconnect the battery(s).

I have no radio connected to this battery, no inverter. I was thinking something with the Onan gen, was drawing the 2 amp. guess I'll just install a knife switch disconnect at the battery till I find the problem...

Thanks for all the people that made suggestions

Are you drawing 2 amps after using your battery disconnect switch? I know you pulled all fuses, but shouldn't the battery disconnect switch prevent all 12 volt devices from drawing any current?

That's a pretty reasonable thing to believe

But it's just not what actually happens!

Battery

Hope that leaves you fixed up with the house battery. Remember the chassis battery (engine start) also has these ghost loads if the battery is not disconnected. I keep my shore line connected that charges the house batteries and occasionally trickle charge the chassis battery when stored for any length of time.
