THOR #20632
degreasing and cleaning motor

Hi everyone. I am new to this site as I just bought a 2006 Four Winds Mandalay by Thor with 150k miles, Cummins ISL 400. Motor area has never been cleaned and there was an obviously old ongoing oil leak on the PTO cover, which slowly coated everything on the passenger side of the motor and compartment is very thick in oil and sand mix about 1/4" thick. I scraped many pounds of crud off the oil pan alone. Obviously it had made several trips through a desert. I fixed the leak but need to degrease the entire compartment and motor. Any advice would be appreciated. My plan so far is to spray a commercial degreaser on it and let it sit for 20 minutes, hose it off and repeat. Once it is clean I plan to do a overhead reset lash on the valve, jake and injectors, and filter and oil but I can't see anything but crud all over the top of the motor and everything else. It seems to run pretty well though. Thanks

Bill
