Dehumidifier in RV while stored?

A few days ago, I went to check on my coach while it was in storage. I live along the Texas gulf coast and it felt awfully hot and humid inside the RV, even though I keep it in a covered storage yard. It got me to thinking whether it might be a good idea to run a dehumidifier inside while it is in storage. Is anyone doing this in hot and humid climates?

It sounds like a good idea. The downside is you'll need constant power and depending on the size of your unit, you'll need to empty out the tank of the dehumidifier frequently.

I'm also on the Texas gulf coast and I have a dehumidifier that is used when parked in the driveway.

Before doing this, a musty smell would eventually show up after being parked for awhile. The dehumidifier will pull out a lot of water during more humid times, requiring the tank to be emptied every day or two. I have some ideas for setting it up to drain outside, but haven't started working that yet.

My storage unit provides power, but only to keep the RV batteries topped off. I think I could probably get the storage yard owner to agree to let me run a dehumidifier for a nominal extra monthly fee. I would want to put in a drain hose, either to the outside or to my gray water tank, rather than have to worry about emptying the dehumidifier tank every few days.

You could run your drain into the shower...

I run ours in the kitchen, and let it drain into the sink so it goes into the grey tank.

I do the same, using a 15 pint dehumidifer. I do have power at my storage site.

The main reason for suggesting the shower ius that the entire unit can be put in there. (Perhaps on a small rack to get it off the floor.). If anything happens: the spillage still does down the drain.

Depending on your cover..... If you have power at the coach, why not just run the A/C (assuming you have 30A or more available). The A/C will remove humidity and circulate the air.

You don't need to have the Thermostat set at 75 Deg. See what the typical temperature maxes out at and then set it a couple degrees cooler. You don't need it running 24 hours a day. It can run when it is hottest and be off when it cools down at night.

When I’m not at my place in Florida in the hottest part of summer, I have my programmable WiFi thermostat kick down the temp for an hour or two each day. The thermostat also shows the humidity so I can see it drop after the A/C has been running.

I have a metal pole building for my coach and temps can get into the mid to upper 80's inside it and it gets humid here. I have the A/C kick on about 85 degree so it runs occasionally to keep the humidity down.

Running the air conditioner sounds like a good idea.

I usually set on of the AC units on 80 degrees

Keeps the humidity around 48-50%

I keep one of these in the coach. If you have Internet access you can pull up Temp & Humidity levels remotely. You can also create alerts for high and low temps as well as high humidity. I use it monitor the coach remotely and also to make sure it is safe for the pooch when we leave her in the coach.

We put Damprid in our motorhome when it is stored. We get the size that's similar to an ice cream bucket. That way we don't need power and it works well. We pick them up at Home Depot or have ordered them from Amazon.

We use them as well. Generally I keep two in our 30ft class A. They last 6-9 months.

Was this a after market item added if what the brand and does it work with any rv ac? Is one built with LTE if wifi not avaialble?
