Dicor/ Caulk Gun or Can ?

Just wondering what is a better way to apply and store? Thank you!

I have only used the caulk gun for Dicor. As with most caulk tubes if you don't use the whole tube, make sure you use a plug to save the rest or it will harden and be worthless.

I have always used a caulk gun, even when I was an RV tech. The only time we ever used a can was when we replaced an entire rubber roof. We applied from the can for all wide edges (underneath front and rear edges) and then used a caulk gun on the top under the cap molding and on all screws.

Much easier to work with the gun.

Just my $0.02

Hello revjeffrey, our lower trim (Axis 24.1) is coming lose on 1 side. What category of dicor do we use to adhere it to the body again and then what type of dicor do we use to seal the edges together? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide. Appreciate it.

Oops sorry, I meant to pose this question to Funhog. My apologies!

Hi Tom, I actually posed my question to revJeffrey and meant to ask you. Could you please help? Thank you?

New question...Old subject

Here's a question I've been dying to ask. Why don't they use dicor tape on the roofs of our coaches where the rubber roof meets the fiberglass? Why do they always use the 'blob method' of applying caulk, which ages and cracks in the sun rather quickly, let alone gets grimey real fast? Is it simply a matter of cost? Or is there a real reason that you do not want to use the nice, neat tape which seems to be nothing more than a sheet of caulk on a bulletproof backing. I've used the tape for repairs back when I had my pop-up and a branch cracked the roof over the winter, and it repaired very nicely and securely while still looking neat and clean. Rather than periodically recaulking all the seams on my roof, can I just go over them with dicor tape?

Some folks do just that. Sometimes even on a brand new RV. I don’t much like the stuff myself. It works well enough but I think it looks terrible. But maybe that’s just me.

Since the lap sealant is self leveling it is way harder to screw up than the tape which can easily be poorly installed. Cost is probably also a major factor. I'm sure the roof sealing team is not using 10.3 oz cartridges.

The dicor self levelling works to seal all holes more easily than the tape. You could miss a spot and still have a leak with the tape. It may also be a cost and time factor. The tape takes time to cut and use since you need to smooth it out to get any/all bubbles out from underneath it. With the dicor it is just pump it out and done.

Tip, use a wire nut to screw on the dispenser they go on tight and do a great job of keeping it fresh

And store new and used tubes inside in controlled temperatures not in garages. I store al sealants, tube grease, etc, in the inside laundry room.
