Disconnect switch not connecting coach battery

We have a 2000 four winds hurricane. The disconnect switch didn't have power when not connected to shore power. It's a rocker style switch. We replaced the switch, didn't fix it, we replaced the solenoid in the battery control center, we now have power to the switch but it will only keep power if we hold the switch down. We have placed the small circuit breaker as well.Should we bypass the disconnect switch,us it safe to do so?We are not electricians, any suggestions would be helpful. The chassis disconnect switch is working properly.

So you have both a chassis and a house disconnect switch?
The chassis disconnect switch works normally.
You replaced the "solenoid" for the house disconnect switch.
The house disconnect switch now only makes connection when held in one position or the other.

Sounds like you replaced the latching relay with a momentary solenoid. Verify you have the correct part installed. They look identical sometimes.

And yes we have two separate switches..one for the chasis which works and one for coach , the led light stays on showing it has power but the lights , generator etc will only work if we hold the switch down for the coach, before we replaced the continuous duty solenoid it didn't have power at all

That's not a latching relay that's normally used with a battery disconnect switch. That type of solenoid is used to tie the coach and chassis battery banks together so the converter and alternator can charge both banks of batteries.

Does this new relay actuate when you press the battery disconnect switch?

Well there's your problem. Wrong application for that solenoid.

Get a latching relay:

https://www.amazon.com/INTELLITEC-01.../dp/B072N8NYN2

It's cheaper too.
