door lockset replacement
Hello everyone....
I locked myself inside my 99 Thor Hurricane when the door lock broke. Pulling the handles (inside and outside) would not release the spring loaded tongue portion of the lock. The pot-metal tongue broke and I had to disassemble the entire lock and remove the tongue. The dead bolt portion still works but it has to be set every time the door is closed.
Does anyone know of a RV boneyard that sells parts for these older models. The lockset appears to be the Trimark 60-650. I know there is a Trimark replacement/upgrade (60-1650) but am not sure if it is a direct-fit replacement. I may try to have the broken tongue fabricated or repaired as the price of the newer 1650 model in Canada is over $300.
Any suggestions would be most welcome.
Thanks for your help.
Russ

Sorry don't know of any place to get parts. I think trimark sells parts but if I remember correctly its more of a kit that would have more than what you need.
Maybe someone that changed out their lock could send it to you
Good luck

Lots of those locks have broken. Locking people in or out of their RV. I'd recommend replacing the lock all together. As soon I we return home I'm replacing my 650 trimark lock with a Baur. It's a direct replacement, no cutting or changes to be made. And the pin is made of steel, not pot metal like the trimark. It costs about $75 shipped direct from Baur.

We replaced with the steel version, got it on eBay for about 140.00...
Couldn't take a chance on getting our fur kids locked in...

Yeah I agree. I already received my Bauer Em lock but while trying to install it I found I needed spacers. Called Bauer and they are sending me two spacers. Picks of the install to follow once I get them.

The Baur lock that fits a Thor Axis is the BP-12RV. Not sure it's the same one you need.

BTW - I've found that the lock mechanism works 10 times better if you keep the plunger and pins well lubed. While on the road I'll lube it every 2 weeks with garage door lubricant. It comes in a handy spray with a nice spout.

Thanks. That is very helpful. Do you have the Bauer direct sales website name?

Thank you everyone for the input. Just ordered my Bauer replacement unit from Bauer for $59.95 plus taxes and shipping. Total of $81 USD. Very happy camper...... Thanks again, Russ.

I see you own a Chevy Bolt. Firstly, thank you for caring about our environment. Secondly, can you tow the Bolt "four down" behind your motorhome??
Best regards,
Russ

Nope the Bolt can't be towed 4 down. Page 310 of the owner's manual:

(There are a few more steps on the next page that need to be done.)
I'll be dolly towing it next season (got the Bolt this summer, this season we towed our C-Max Energi around for trips, but I did give it a try and got it ready to tow).

His gas mileage, or lack there of, makes up for the 9 mpg that I get with my 79 Corvette.

No, but I remember when I forgot to bring a spare set of keys one time when I went camping. Wouldn't you know it, we got all set up, opened up one of the storage compartments, put down the keys so I could grab something with both hands.....and the wind blew the storage door shut. After an hour I called a locksmith and when we got back home I made up two extra sets. One for each of the vehicle's glove compartments and a spare under the entrance steps. Oh yeah, tried to get another set before this happened and the RV dealers didn't have the blanks, only a 'key master'.
