Onan QG4000 generator oil plug leak

Hello. After my last oil change on the generator, I have had a small drip/leak coming from the drain plug. It is not cross threaded. Should there be a brass o-ring on the plug that I dropped and missed? Did I lose it and not know it? Should I have put some Teflon tape on the plug? The plug is tight but not over torqued. It it is not a major leak it's just getting oil all over the pan and ground. Has anyone else had this issue? THANKS

ALL oil pan drain bolts need a gasket of some type. Here is a snapshot of the parts book, says M12, so you could get one at any auto parts store, or Onan directly.
ducksface, I would not install that hose drain on my Onan for the fact that it would be totally exposed, sticking straight down under the Onan and prone to stray rocks hitting it. They are very useful for Briggs and Stratton type engines that have the oil drain out the side of the crankcase.

A 90 deree, 90 cent, cure is available.
The drain plug stripping on the onan block is too skeery.
