exactly

and that's why many factories use them during installs because it's much more efficient versus the very labor intensive manual version on typical outlets. The little tabs are also what hold the outlet to the 'wall', which is typically just the 1/4" paneling...

don't know what you mean... when you push the wire in, though, it will certainly retain it since it is designed that way, but you don't push wires in 'forward', or straight on, they go in perpendicular.

Insulation displacement connector. A little troublesome at best? Thor had tried to put two strands of 12 G wire in mine and didn't make contact.

I think they call it a "quick box"? If you look at the cover it has plastic veins designed to push the wires in and hold in place. Im not crazy about them but im sure most RV's have them installed from factory.

They dont have to strip the wires, just insert and the box will cut the insulation and make contact with the wires once the cover is tighen in place.

It's know as a POS! Hate `em. The outlet in the bedroom had three cables shoved in then crammed into the wall. Just crap.

AC socket

This socket relies on the back cover to keep the wires in place. You have to make sure that the back panel is secure before installing as the wires might work their way out.

Modular homes use them as well

Bit of a pain to change to quote normal outlets and switchs

Most of them last a long time though
