Interesting thing is the only problem that can be identified without driving is the incorrectly installed DEF header hoses. Other issues like the bad sensors don’t happen unless you’re driving and the system throws a code.

At 3k miles when I had a MIL I was told it was a loose connection and there were no header issues. FCCC also told me that my rig was not subject to the DEF header recall on the S2RV chassis.

The dealer claims there is a short in the def heater circuit but they cannot locate it.

Supposedly they found a Freightliner splice in the DEF heater system (line 2) that is loose. They hope to have it repaired and us back on the road in 2 hours.

Well that's encouraging.....

At least they found something that makes some sense as to what could cause the code... and they have a way to fix it.

Probably getting back on the road to catch up on his trip itinerary takes higher precedence over updating the thread. We'll still be here when he stops for the night.

Back on the road. The fix for the splice cleared all codes and lights. Drove 100 miles to a KOA for the night to drain tanks and rewind. Now we have to kick back and readjust our travel plans.

BTW, FCCC customer service is worse than Thor.

Just curious, how would you compare to Ford customer service?

If I recall correctly, you had Class A and C before that, both on Ford chassis.

You are correct. I also had many Ford cars and SUVs. I never had to contact Ford for RV issues and the last time on a car was in 1998. All my issues were always handled by a dealer.

Same here. And I also like that there’s a Ford dealer on every corner. If you break down on a trip it probably doesn’t really mean much, but for some reason it gives me a sense of security; particularly when traveling out west in less populated areas.

My Class C only went to Ford Truck dealer for alignment, but van has been in a few times due to age and high mileage. Regular Ford dealers have taken care of repairs, which fortunately happened close to home so I wasn’t stranded for days. Still, it took days to get a fuel pump replaced, which would have been an issue if it happened during a trip. Just thinking that having lots of Ford dealers may save on towing distance, but may not actually save much time as far as getting back on the road.

For what it’s worth, dealing with Ford Customer Service a long time ago was a horrible experience. Maybe it is just part of auto/vehicle business.

Glad you got problem fixed quickly.

Dead and this time it’s really dead

Well that fix didn’t last long.

After 200 miles today all hell broke loose. Pulled into the campsite and got a Red Stop Engine light. FL service centers are closed for the weekend. I’ll call for the tow on Monday.

Man..... that just sucks..... and so frustrating.

If it is an emission issue, it would be nice if the engine would run until it can be serviced.... assuming no harm would be done to the engine.

Hopefully you will find a FL shop who will be more competitent and get it fixed right this time.

Hate to hear that. Never fun to be stranded, especially the weekend.
