How often should water heater be drained and anode rod replaced?

What model WH do you have. Many don't have an anode rod.

It depends on use. If there is considerable time between use then drain the water heater. If the time between use is minimal the drain once a year.

Anode rod gets changed when it is needed. On my prior class C I changed it every spring. The Challenger and the current rig do not have anode rods.

WH stands for Water Heater

MH stands for Motor Home.

You either have a Dometic (Atwood) WH or a Suburban WH.

If you have a Suburban water heater, the tank is porcelain-lined steel and requires an anode rod to prevent corrosion of the steel tank. If you have an Atwood water heater, your water heater tank is aluminum and does not require one
