Electric step issues

What’s up everyone! Has anyone experienced problems with their electric entry step before? The step is failing to extend when the door is open.

I’ve made sure the sensor was picking up a signal and it was. Also checked with the step switch toggled both ways. The light for the door is turning on so that shows the switch is working as well. But the motor is failing to turn on and extend the step.

Any advice?

Have you checked for 12V at the motor when you open the door?

Replaced several motors over the years.... If it is the Lippert the motor is cheaply made. Check the ground wire to the chassis these tend to cause intermittent failures.

I just had the same problem and it was the motor. I had guessed that since the light came on when the door was opening that it wasn’t a fuse and the door switch was working. When I removed the motor and disassembled it I found that the seal was bad and it appeared water had been getting in the motor for a while.

Thank you gentlemen for your reply and help!

I ended up unplugging my RV battery and it worked itself out. I had just replaced my house batteries the morning of when this issued occurred. Idk if that reset some things or not. I didn’t think it would effect the steps since the steps seem to be hooked to the main RV battery but, it worked! Thank you again
