Electrical Issues

2017 Aria 3901. I’m getting no power when batteries are charged. Nothing on either line. Once I start the generator everything works. I’m not sure if I’m even explaining it correctly.

I am assuming you are saying things like the 12 volt lighting aren't working until you start the generator?

First thing to check is if the USE/STORE switch is in the USE position. If in STORE, the batteries won't power your lighting, and when the generator is running it powers your converter. The converter then provides the 12 volts to lighting, etc.

50 amp DC breaker near batteries tripped or latching relay/wiring bad.

Not tripped
I’ll manually trip it again
It happened during use/store switch use
But use/store switch making switch noises
With genny on now (I’m boondocking), I get power but converter isn’t charging batteries/no fan

I disconnected solar
Batteries staying at 13.6 and all lights and fans on, goes to 13.3
But still doesn’t trigger converter to go on

100amp breaker seems fine
Trying to figure out if the internal mechanism of the use/store module is bad
So connect both positive cables together to over ride it?

If the converter wasn't on the house battery voltage would be under 12.7 VDC once the surface charge is dissipated.

Get your hands on a good voltmeter, heck, even a cheap one is better than 'guessing'.

Success!!!

Found it
It’s the Use/Store module
It clicks on/off from the switch
But obviously is broken at the connection port

I circumvented/wired around it by connecting the two cables together

So I’ll be fine for the remainder of the trip
Then I’ll order a new one & re-wire

I’ll keep you posted....

It is fine, just remember to keep it plugged into shore power or the batteries will slowly die out. Just disconnect the negative from the battery if you do need to leave it w/o power.

You misunderstood me...
The Solenoid inside the Use/Store connection port is bad
So I connected both of the cables together on one side of the solenoid (which renders the solenoid useless)
And by doing so, it’s like not having a Use/Store switch.

All internal functions of my rig now work normally

So now I need to replace the solenoid mechanism & re-wire properly so that the Use/Store switch functions as it’s suppose to

My rig is always plugged-in or solar powered so I rarely have need for the Use/Store switch

It looks something like this...

Yes, that bypass will work fine until you get the latching solenoid replaced. And for future reference, the 100 amp DC breaker powers the generator start and hydraulic leveling pump. It is the 50 (or 70 in some coaches) amp DC breaker that goes to the latching relay.

Thanks for the response.

I finally found the 50amp breaker hidden high inside battery compartment, but it’s a stand-alone without an external breaker (yellow flag). So not sure how one knows if it’s bad.

By the way...with all the stress & commotion, I forgot to reset the 100amp yellow flag in the battery compartment.
For the life of me, I couldn’t figure out why the Axxera radio wouldn’t power-on
Well, well. Once I discovered & reset the 100amp breaker the Axxera powered on.

So I found a replacement relay/solenoid on Amazon for $34
Although one of the comments was that you can take apart and clean the connectors as they get corroded.
So I’ll probably buy one, and clean out the current one when I return home.

Now I wonder if the OP had found their problem.

Part arrived today via USPS regular mail
Took a little longer because it didn’t come directly from the Amazon warehouse
But was a favorable price at just $34
Now I’ll install and the Use/Store switch will once again work properly.

I have never had the chance... yet, but once changed, open the 'defective' one to see if you can find the problem. May be able to make it into a good spare.

They say that once taken apart, it’s just generally just corrosion that limits the solenoid connection.

I’ll report back with photos.
