Greetings from KY,

I was recently at a campsite and I plugged into shore line.
It took out all of the tv, fireplace and refrigerator plugs. They’re all dead. I’ve tested all of the plugs and made sure the GFCI was not tripped.
Checked all of the breakers with a meter.
The inverter is on, but I’m lost.
Tried everything with the generator running and it still doesn’t make a change.
What am I missing, I can’t locate another GFCI just the one in the half bath.

Is there power at the power box for the camp ground? Those breakers working? Is your power cable good?
Start at the source, does the camp ground have power?

Was the generator running when you plugged in to shore power? Was the breaker on the pole in the off position when you plugged in? Have you checked the breaker inside the generator cabinet? You can also check for loose connections inside your transfer switch. The inverter is running because it runs off batteries when you have no other power source supplying coach...they won't last more than a couple days on their own.

Also in addition to other posters' input, you mention that there is no AC power available when you run the generator. Do you mean no AC power from either the Inverter output (feeding the inverter/emergency AC panel circuits) nor any AC power from the Shore/Gen fed AC panel? As the previous poster says, the pedestal AC breaker could have tripped which would remove shore power from coming through your transfer switch. If there is no AC power at all, even with gen running, then the problem could be your transfer switch; bad wiring connections; or a breaker tripped on your main AC panel that is fed from the output of the transfer switch. Sometimes breakers trip off but they don’t look tripped. Turn off and then on the breakers if there is any doubt especially the breaker between transfer switch and your main AC panel input as a start.


I ripped off a basic schematic from one of the inverter/charger vendors to help visualize a basic setup for you. It is likely not exactly what you have but should be "similar". Note the two separate AC Panels....one for loads that power from the inverter AC output / or from normal shore/gen AC when it is available (passes through the inverter bypass relay typically); and the other Main AC panel that operates from shore/gen power only. Gen, transfer switch and shore power are shown in the lower center of the simplified diagram. Hope that helps a bit.

Dont forget to check the 100 amp fuse in the battery compartment. If you see a yellow flag push it back up

Yes, there was power at the source. All of the other plugs were working. We had to run extension cords from different areas in the RV to supply power to the refrigerator and outside TV.

OK, I gonna have to do some assumption here based on you profile picture. (Thor Motor Coach)
I'm gonna guess a 50 amp service. Did you find 240 volts at the shore power?

Checked all the breakers with a meter and the inverter is on. That tells me you have one or more circuits on the inverter. Check the inverter for 1 or 2 reset buttons. Inverter will have a GFI feeding the Fridge.

Still haven’t figured out the issue.
It’s like there is a circuit in missing.
Outside tv, living room tv, bunk tv’s, outside tv and refrigerator are all dead plugs

Everything was good at campsite.
When I plugged in to shore line that’s when I lost power to all tv, fireplace and refrigerator plugs

I’ve yet to trace down the issue.

All those outlets are Inverter GFI circuits! Reset the GFI on the inverter.

Assuming you have a 50 amp coach and 2 air conditioners. Do they both work?

If not you have probably lost one of the hot legs. Since running the generator makes no difference it is either in the Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS - common problem) or you have one of your two main breakers in your breaker panel tripped - reset both of them first, then check you ATS connections if no improvement.

Definitely sounds like an inverter breaker, fuse, or inverter transfer switch would be the culprit...

You said your inverter was "on", I know on mine, if the inverter switch is not on, then the 120 outlets powered by the inverter are not functioning wheter on shore power, generator, or inverter...
