Engine regeneration and def use rate
I have a 2018 Gemini 23TR with the 3.2 diesel power stroke engine.
I purchased with about 3800 miles on it. I have driven it over 2000 miles, mostly highway and have never seen the regeneration light come on. Also,
I put 2 gal of DEF in upon purchase and systems continues to say DEF level "OK". I am wondering if these systems are working normally?

Driven at highway speeds should negate the need for regen.
Your owners manual should detail the regen process. It’s worth the time to read.

It regens automatically, periodically as you drive and it sounds like all systems are fine. Some computers flash across the dash briefly when it is going on...some don't. The DEF system is like a baby with colic...if its quiet and not showing any signs of trouble...leave it sleeping. I would keep fluid tank topped off ever couple thousand miles. Murphy's Law states...if you let it run real low, there will be no service station or parts houses with it in stock for 5000 miles.

Sometimes when it’s goes into passive regen (driving) you won’t get a regen light but you will probably see a dpf temp light come on and that’s ok it’s just a warning to let you know the exhaust is hot enough to catch combustible materials on fire, and in a perfect def system if there is such a thing, it averages about 2% of def fluid as you would in fuel.

Do yourself a favor, and learn to check your DEF tank levels.
Don't trust the process to a machine...

how do you check the level. 2018 thor Gemini 23tr. 350HD transit frame with 3.2 diesel.
No guage. Just an ok level on dash system check.

Just add to the tank every 2 or 3,000 miles...keep it full. Your stomach doesn't have a light, buzzer or gauge on it but I bet it never runs low!!

normal highway driving should create enough of a load and HEAT to do passive regenerations, my bus has never done a commanded regen, just does it driving with latent heat..
my f250..on highway it keep dpf gauge 20% or so and never regens unless we are in traffice of lots of city driving
as far as DEF usage...that the equation of the year. some use more than others and some seem to never use it
my bet is that its using using at load also dictates useage.
top it off then watch the guage and see what happens, if its always reporting low, you need to have the thing checked
it uses sound wave to measure level and strength of the UREA
as alwys read the owner manual regarding your ford chassis

Reading many of these relies while great information, they don't pertain to our compass and this diesel engine. I went to Ford and had service activate this DEF regeneration information. On your left side steering wheel buttons scroll down to information. Then you can find the percentage full of your regeneration. You will see on your display the percentage. I watch when it hits 95% and then it will start to come down to zero. Hope this helps.

That’s dpf soot load and has nothing to do with def system, def uses about 2% of what you use in fuel and if it wasn’t working you would know by a check engine light and it would debate the engine

yes thats the soot load, it will help the OP gauge when its regenerating or doing a passive regen
I have found if the engine is working ...as in being an rv or towing the DEF usage tends to come out to 4000k miles for a 7 gallon tank in my 250
empty at 78 mph it uses about 2.5 gallons per 7000k miles
i have found the exhaust staying hot enough to burn off the soot, then less def it uses, unless again your pushing your right foot in a heavy way

Def usage is calculated by the acm module to dose def fluid until the nox levels are 80% less at the outlet than at the inlet sensor doesn’t make any difference how you drive, and has nothing to do with the dpf system other than def is pushed through the scr by the exhaust stream
