I used a clean putty knife to pry up the brackets from the top of the fridge. The existing sticky pad remained sticky and when I repositioned the brackets on the top of the fridge they immediately rebounded themselves to where they couldn't be moved. I used an alcohol pad to wipe down the top of the fridge before repositioning those brackets. I did however stop at Lowes and bought some 3M doubled sided adhesive pad to use but that was not required.

I'm not sure what Thor uses but it looks sort of like plumbers putty and has the draw of a magnet to a metal surface.
