Exercising your generator

Hello All,

I was reading an article on Exercising your generator, by RVlifestyles (also read the Onan manual) and it suggests using a ceramic heater for the suggested load when running the generator for 2 hrs at 50% load.

https://rvlifestyle.com/exercise-an-...eid=852bc50970

Question is are ceramic heaters safe to use in an RV?

I read a post where there is a possibility of a fire.

Cheers!

Well... the good ones are safe.
But I find it easier to just use the air conditioner unit.

I used a ceramic heater this week while camping and I'm still alive

I have 2 heater. A small one for the bedroom and larger one that sits in between the front seats on the dog house

Temps dropped down to the low 50s high 40s. We ended up turning off the bedroom heater. The big one heated the entire mh

Both of mine will shut off if it tips over. This was the first trip using them and not the furnace. I was very happy with them

As long as the heater has a turnover switch, it should be safe on a counter or floor, if it is a safe distance from a flammable substance. I prefer the oscillating hot wire heater. Ceramic heaters get clogged with cat hair in our coach, as electric heaters tend to attract the cats. Now that we have a heat pump, we seldom use electric heaters.
