new Entegra Emblem 36U - issues/need help

Good Morning,

picked up my new Entegra Emblem from General RV in SLC and heading back to VA. Of course there are some ( minor ) issues with new coaches but I do have some where I like to get some advise

- heatpump only blows cold air - not heating

- filled up fresh water tank yesterday and dumped holding tanks. After that I had water on the floor in the rear bathroom. No idea where it came from

- the half bath does not get any heat

- when picking up the RV the Firefly system showed the propane tank being empty. The lady doing the walk through mentioned it needs to be adjusted as the tank is full. It now shows Full! and I ran out of propane last night. Pretty sure the propane tank was not full. I will fill up sometimes later today but guess I need to tell the system first that the tank is empty so it will read correctly after I filled up - correct ? If so, how do I do that ?

any advise/help is greatly appreciated

Thanks everybody

Heat pumps seem to work best if the temperatures are in the fifties.
How warm is it by you?

Welcome to the Entegra Family

On the heat pump, make sure the fan switch is set to Auto and not high or low. If it is not set on Auto the heat pump, nor furnace, will work correctly. Also, not sure about the temps but the heat pump only functions when the outside temp is above 40 give or take a degree or two.

LP, did they purge the take before they filled it? If not there could be air inside the take causing all kinds of issues with the gauge and filling. As a note, when the Firefly said the tank was full what did the outside gauge read?

You bought from General RV. Heat, water leaks and LP issues are camping critical items and qualify for a "while you wait" emergency appointment for service. The service department in Ashland, VA is good. Nikki is an extremely good service advisor at that location.

To really check the propane tank, go out to where the tank is stored in one of the outside compartments and look at the tank. There should be a visible level on it that you can see how full/empty the tank actually is at that time. When it is filled up, the control panel system should reset to the level it is currently without you having reset anything.

Welcome to the forum.

Paul

you guys are great !!

it was in the 30's when the heat pump did not heat - problem solved

filled up the propane tank and it now reads correctly - problem solved

still don't know where the water on the bathroom floor was coming from and why the half bath is not heating

Thanks again

With roof mounted RV heat pumps the answer is YES, as they do not contain the circuitry to defrost the heat pump's evaporator coil. A house type heat pump contains a electric heat coil to provide heat to the room while the heat pump defrost the evaporator's coil. Typically the evaporator coil runs 12 or 20 degrees colder than the atmospheric temperature (you gotta get heat from somewhere). At 40 degrees frost will begin form on the evaporator's coil shutoff air flow. My 3 ton house heat pump requites 45 amps at 240 volts during the defrost cycle or 4 times the current required in the A/C cycle or normal heat pump cycle. Few RV coaches have the capability to supply 50 amps @ 120 volts to power a roof heat pump's defrost cycle.
