That's a great question, Bob. I still don't know! I'm not sure (but will find out) if the warranty costs the same if I start it as the factory year ends, or if it goes up because of the factory warranty not being there for the full five years. Hope that made sense.

I'd agree with the predominant opinion to decline but really, it's a personal choice. Some people find great peace of mind having this protection and don't mind paying another $25 a month for it. And some folks really do benefit from it if they have the misfortune of multiple serious malfunctions. It's like any form of insurance - it's a "waste of money".....until it isn't. Yes the dealers make a lot of money selling this but it's not difficult to spend more than $5000 on repairs if you aren't handy.

We just got home from the dealership, with our new RV. Man that is a big thing to drive, LOL!

The Good Sam plan offered was more than double the USWC quote, for an equivalent coverage plan. When we told him the numbers, he quickly came down and price matched, and I feel there's some value to having a service plan with our local dealer where we bought, so we signed. We paid cash, get it over with and no payments or interest charges.

As others said, it's all personal preference. Being a totally new RV'er, I feel better with the coverage.

We were talked into the coach only warranty by CW when we purchased our used 2015 Windsport. Its offered by Good Sam (actually Assurance). We are having serious second thoughts on whether its worth it. Its a 2 hour drive one way to get any work done and I can handle pretty much any repair necessary (maybe not a completely bad slide wall).

Does anyone know if its possible to or have cancelled an extended warranty. We financed it with the dealer.

Thanks,
Tom

Read your fine print. I think on many you can cancel for a prorated refund. Good luck.

It is amazing how much pressure they hit you with on these isn't it?!

Oh yes, lots of FUD (Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt) are thrown at you. Just one of many unpleasant experiences during the entire 5 hour ordeal.

I recommend a nice therapeutic camping trip to forget all that hassle! Bring a good book and an adult beverage of your liking and forget all about it. And don't let the invariable repairs an adjustments get you down....just sayin!

We are seriously thinking about cancelling our pretty steep 3 yr and $6K,. We are 3 hours away from our dealer and even then it does not mean anything. I had a water leak for three weeks could not track it down literally a drenched towel every few hours mobile tech could not figure it out. I ended upper pulling out the dryer myself and fixing a leak from the washer that they dealer installed for us...thanks for nothing. Every place I called said weeks to get it in then weeks to fix. I can count all the little fixes overdone in just a month. Only thing that really scares me on the house side me is slides.

Service Options

Are your service options limited to the dealer? My Extended Service Agreement is not limited to any one service provider--just repairs must be made thru a licensed shop. It can be a one man shop, but it must be a business and repairs can't be a hobby (ie not you and Cousin Joe replacing the fridge yourselves). If you are limited to one dealer, who has not been all that good so far (and a distance away to boot) I would cancel. If you still want the comfort of a plan shop for another one that will cover what you want and allow you to use repair facilities close to home and where you may be traveling. Just my 2 cents......

I called one shop an hour away they said since we did not buy it there they would charge us $300 as an orphan policy just to walk in the door but again weeks for an appointment to assess and see if it's covered and then no promise on how long to repair.
