Info on brakes FWIW

I just returned from a trip and was thinking that since I have nearly 47k miles on the Vegas I should check the brake pads. Not knowing what kind of brake pad mileage you can get out of the Ford chassis with this weight, I thought it would be good to check instead of guessing. Front and rear looked almost like new thickness, so it seems I can press on with one less road maint. concern.
Maybe this can save you a trip behind the wheels for a check based on your mileage.

MCR, How long is your coach and do you tow a car/truck
GVW? we are 35' long plus a CRV so the gross weight is about 28K
Only 20000 mile so far

The Vegas grosses out around 12,500 I think. Been towing a little chevy spark for awhile. Coach is 24-25 ft and OAL with the car is about 41 ft. The toad weighs around 2200-2300 lbs.

I am heavier on average and usually tow a trailer. At 25,000 miles the pads look fine. I use a mirror and good LED light to inspect through rim holes. I would guess I should not need to change untill 75,000 or more. I will still check quarterly unless I feel/hear something strange.

I know I am easier on the brakes in my RV than in my daily driver. The RV and toad weigh about 5 times as much as my little truck so my foot comes off the gas a lot quicker and more frequently rolling resistance comes into play. Add the tow haul downshifting and the open road nature of RVing and there are times when I go 100s of miles without touching the brakes. So it is not surprising that brakes wear is minimal.
