Extract moisture from wall

If you're good, and patient, you can make a really good gasket out of rubber tubing. Just split it down the middle and wrap it around the lens edge. Leave a weep hole in the bottom for condensation. You shouldn't have to touch it again until you lose another bulb.

Be careful using Flex Seal. You have to remove the tail light to change bulbs and if you have the LEDs and a board goes bad, like mine did in a year, you’ll have to remove it to replace the board. Flex seal will be tough to remove.
I used dicor since it stays soft and provides a good seal.

Apology. I should have been more clear. You mask and paper off the external surrounding area and only use the Flexseal on the recess where the back of the light enters the RV. It's only purpose is to seal the wood from further exposure/moisture.

The 'gasket' serves to prevent heavy moisture (e.g. rain) from entering the cavity.

Thanks for the catch.

Ok got it. I’ve used flex seal in some locations on my RV and know that once placed it’s not going anywhere. Which is Lisa why I used it in those areas. [emoji1303]

Ditto. My vegas lights leaked the first year. The installers did not remove the paper over the gasket on the back up lights ie no gasket. I used butyl tape as a gasket and even sealed the screw holes with it. That was 3 years ago and no mosture since.

Glad to know that the stuff is more permanent than a wedding vow (these days anyway! )
I was wondering about it's usefulness around the RV, and you've answered my question: thanks!

The gasket is thin foam in my photo, laying on the dark plastic taillight housing.
