Extremely loud whistling diesel Tuscany

My 2016 Tuscany diesel is suddenly emitting an extremely loud whistling and "air rushing" sound from the bottom of the rear of the unit (engine). There is no evidence of any air leak (out) under the rig. It only happens when the engine is idling and is below 1000 rpm approx. Once the engine rpm increases the noise ceases, only to return when the engine slows back down.

This happened while sitting in my driveway! It was not present 2 weeks ago when I ran the unit.

Anyone else experiencing this? Think I need a permanent parking spot at the repair shop..........

My guess, based on life, not your rv:

The 'hey! The air filter is dirty!' Mechanical by-pass reverse scupper valve is working by sucking/blowing an air whistle designed to alert you.

It CAN be a wart type thing on your air cleaner. It requires a measured amount of suction, caused by a dirty or restricted air filter, to start whistling.
Often the wart is clear with a colored bar gauge inside.

Or not.

Someone here might know differently.

If yours has a restriction gauge on the air box, see if that is alerting to a restricted filter. If not, it may be a loose air intake hose. If you're not sure what you're looking for, get a diesel tech to take a look.

or the bypass on the chassis air system is opening or is stuck with crude from doing the dump of moist air
mine got stuck once and did the same thing, it was loud

you could here it from drivers seat.

My bypass doesn't whistle but damn the air is loud. You can faintly hear it a 1/4 mile away.

Which side of the engine is the noise most prevalent?

As noted what are the readings on the filter monitor?

When did you change the air filter last?
