I have to wonder how the dealership can charge $29.99 for 7 quarts of oil plus a filter.

more oil change

I must have missed that only a diesel was being discussed. The Vegas is a gas V-10 and only takes 5 quarts.

My experience has always been loopholes. i.e.

1. They may say only 5 qts are included and charge premium for other 2 qts.
2. They add other fees, like Shop Towels, Oil Disposal fee etc.
3. They use cheapest filters and oil possible
4. While changing 50% of the time they find something else that needs repair that people will add on while vehicle is there on rack.

By biggest deal with dealerships and oil changes is that I don't want to wait or drop off, plus I like using fully synthetic oil so I do myself. normally cost me about $32 to buy oil and filter for a car or SUV.

When I needed some warranty work done at the nearest large truck Ford dealer I asked about an oil change. They said about $100.00 for the job, I just keep doing it my self. Jim.

The 6.8 V10 uses 7 quarts not 5. All versions and horsepower versions.

For the E-Series V10 (Thor Vegas) an oil change with filter is 6 quarts based on owners’ manual.

For what it’s worth, I often get my 2-valve V10 done at Ford cheaper than Jiffy Lube or what I can do myself. While in Florida, local dealer only charges me $29.95 plus tax.

A 2 valve Ford V10 May very well have a 6 qts oil capacity but the 3 valve version introduced in 2005 or so has a 7 qt capacity. Best be checking the owner’s manual for you particular engine.

Yes, I’m aware of differences. Hopefully this will be my last V10 so no need to look it up in future.
