F 53 air filter replacement

I finally got the filter replaced on the F 53. Has about 500 hours on it . To me it seems like a lot of oil on the filter (see picture ). The edge at the bottom of the picture faces the intake so maybe it's just road grime.
Tye V 10 does wind up to high RPM so I would expect some blow by thus some oil in the filter.
What are your experiences with the filter change?
A goggle search was needed to remove the filter cover...talk about poor planing.

It's 'towed', not toad.

My v10 won't go over 4500rpm-ish when letting the computer do the choices.
What high rpm is yours going to, and 'high' compared to what?

Mine might be broken if it should be wrapping at 6500rpm....

No picture so we can't see what you are referring to.

E series and F53 do not use the same V10 so rpm limits may not be the same based on computer settings.

You don't mention how many miles are on this filter or what kind of driving conditions. On the many Fords I have owned, to include 2 motor homes, that filter looks consistent with what I would see after about 15,000 miles of normal driving or 7,500 miles of severe conditions.

Now, if you only have a couple hundred miles on the filter there might be an issue.

I don't know about the 1st 12K but the last 11K have been paved highways other than in the RV parks we stayed.
From what you said this is probably normal, a lot of air has past thru that engine.

I drive in tow haul 90% of the time as we tow a CRV. I've seen the engine rev to 5100 rpm

One thing I found on my many Fords (23 in almost 50 years) is that if I periodically pulled the filter and cleaned the filter box (wipe/vacuum it out) the air filters would tend to last a little longer and they didn't look as nasty when it was changing time. The Class C and Class A motor home filters were always the hardest to do this with but I would work through the hassles.

I have never had this much trouble changing an air filter. The box is so hard to open. All I could do is stick a vacuum hose in and swish it around.

I suppose if I dismounted the complete box it could be more easily done. easier to buy another filter.

What kind of new filter did you use and what was the number?

I just picked one up at Advanced Auto an off brand filter. No number on the filter and the box is long gone. This was the 2nd filter, I ordered one online and it was square, I needed a rectangle shape

The current Ford part number is in the Ford manual that came with the MH. I just changed ours this fall at 30,000 miles and it looked like the picture listed above. And yes, I looked for the filter at several parts stores and finally went to the local Ford dealer. They looked up the current part number. I was quite pleased with myself until Linda asked if I had checked the manual. I assured her it wouldn’t be there. Wrong, it was. Motorcraft #FA1782

Not sure if this will help anyone opening up those F53 class A air boxes for a filter change, but check out my old post #6. This happens to be on an ACE but I am sure it applies to other models too:
