False readings from control panel?

Thor Challenger 2018 model. We're dry camping this winter and every few days we must empty our tanks using our tote. We rely on the readings from our monitor panel to tell us when we're at capacity. Lately, we're getting unreliable readings, I think. Today, my husband emptied both tanks and we're still reading at 67% for black water, and 33% for gray. Conversely, we sometimes get readings that show we're at capacity, but when we empty, we were clearly not. Is there a reset that we should know about?

Nope. None of them work worth a darn. You’ll be better off estimating the fullness based on your use relative to your fresh water supply. It’s a mystery to me that even my $300 snow blower has a simple reliable fuel gauge but my $100,000 RV can’t tell me how much water or propane is in any of my tanks!

For the gauges to work properly, there can be no scum anywhere on the inside of the tanks. When you get ready to leave the campground, dump the tanks and refill with about 5 gallons of water and add 1/4 cup of dish washing soap or your favorite tank cleaner. It will take about 200 miles (25 miles in Louisiana Interstates} for the water to slosh around and clean the tanks. If your tanks have never been really cleaned well, it will take several trips to de-scum the tanks.

See Level Tank Monitoring System

I have the same concern.

Check out what Dino did (using See Level) to get more accurate readings.

When our weather warms up (over 60), I will be doing this mod.

p.s. - the readings are taken on the outside of the tank, so the tank scum (if present) shouldn't affect it

False readings from monitor panel

Thank you to all who weighed in on our problem. Looks like we have some research to do.
