Forgot about the plug kit in the tool pouch. I have a plug in my truck tire that has been there for over a year. Plugs would be a good temp fix on the motorhome.

I actually was covered by Good Sam through my purchase at Camping World for a year, but I got the new coverage and my existing Good Sam Membership and Roadside Assistance merged. This is a great forum, I'm learning a lot. God Bless and safe travels all.
You should have got a 3 year Good Sam Elite membership with your ACE purchase which includes roadside assistance and 1 year travel assistance.

Carry a spare

Was also concerned about a Late day tire failure and subsequent wait for "the tire man" to bring a matching tire. I found a solution (on this Forum!!) where another THOR Compass 23RT owner discovered a spare would fit under the dining room seat. $450.00 later for a tire and wheel, I have the piece of mind of carrying a spare. The table top still fits under the seat, as well.

I also carry a bottle jack and impact lug wrench. My plan is to call Good Sam for a tire change out - but to be able to take care of it myself if necessary.

(Thanks to other reply's, I'm now on my was to check which Good Sam product I purchased.......)

spare tire for 2016 Axis

Our 2016 Axis doesn't have a spare tire or a place to mount one. Any ideas on this? Thanks in advance.

With our previous coach I bought a hitch carrier and strapped the spare to it. When we towed, I put it in the back of a CR-V.

Search the forums: There have been a ton of discussions about Axis/Vegas spares. Some people get a hitch mount, some people throw them in the rear storage (on the 24.1 models). Some people only carry the tire, others carry tire+wheel. Its all over the place.

Is it just me... or do folks spend a lot of time worrying?
I realize that you can't be oblivious to potential "hot spots"...
But if you worry so much about them: how can you enjoy the experience?

It seems a lot like living your whole life: while being afraid of dying...
Is that really living?

We had a right passenger side blow out on 7/13, yes the Friday 13th. We were on our way to Kentucky and it blew at exit 218 on I40. We called FMCA roadside assistance and they sent someone out. Scared of the drivers side tire we also had them replace that one while they were there. We were back on the road in 2 1/2 hours. When we got home we replaced the rest of the tires. I filed the claim with our American Guardian warranty on the 2013 Thor Tuscany 40ft and SafeRide with FMCA. Safe Ride reimbursed us for the service call of $182.01. To my great surprise, American Guardian sent us a check for $740. This helped pay for 2 of the tires.

I have had coach net road service for years. Best protection for your tires, check air pressure often, do not let it get low, and change tires regardless of miles on them between their fifth and sixth year.

Axis Spare wheel $59.90

Hi Folks,
We’re just starting down the road of a spare tire for our Axis 25.2 2017 E450.
Thought I’d share a wheel supplier for $59.90 including shipping (no connection)
https://www.wheelsandcaps.com/
Delivery takes about 10 days … I think they get the order before they do the re-conditioning. … looks OK … way better than "new OEM from Ford" price.
Will be looking around for a good used tire next … then we'll use our cargo basket till we build the hitch mounting.
best regards,
James

You're right Bob...dream it long enough and it will happen. Keep stocked on food and beer...if tire blows out call roadside assistance...if they're not there in three days, call them again.

That’s where I got my wheel too. Try stopping at tire stores and asking if they have any “orphan” tires. I got a brand new one (less than a year old date code) for $50 at discount tires. Mounted balanced and ready to go all in for less than &140. Happy me.

I’m right there with you on being one of my worst fears especially being a newbie owning an RV. I worry about the tire thing constantly even though it is a new unit. I have a TPMS and keep an eye on that but I figure if I have an issue I will call Good Sam. Membership came with the purchase of my RV but I will make sure to always keep that membership going. I also have AAA but I think Good Sam will be the way to go. I don’t want to depend on being able to find some truck service place available. I have learned as a new RV owner I do much more worrying about things that I even expected. Will the slide out come back in and that kind of thing worries the crap out of me. I’m a worry wart about stuff like that but I guess it is all part of the game being an RV owner. Sometimes I wish we had just bought a nice popup.

Andy

"I don’t want to depend on being able to find some truck service place available"

It doesn't matter what roadside assistance plan you have...none of them have "people" that come out to help you. They all do the same thing...locate where you are and start looking for the nearest tire service place they can find (if they can find one) and issue a purchase order of some type. With RV's, it's mostly going to be a 24HR truck tire service company. Most of them have pre-arranged contracts or some type of agreements for their services. If you're over 16" tire size, you're gonna see a truck tire service company by your side.

If you're failure is anywhere near a truck stop, odds are good you can find tire service 24/7. Truck stops are everywhere.

I agree: worry about the stuff that you have control over, and then try to put the rest into the "Sometimes Crap Happens" box!
