I repaired and repainted. It looked great! Went on a trip, 2 weeks in it all fell apart. Looked like complete crap. Hope it works better for you but don't count on it.

The difference is companies like Tiffin helped owners after the basic warranty expired. I'm sure you can guess the thor response.

Top grain real leather is out of my price range in RVs, but I wouldn't be surprised if Newel, Marathon and other premium coaches used it.
So we agree

Ultra leather or its knock offs is used in 90% or more of the RV market

You either get a good batch or you don't

Mine looks like new 6 years down the road

I do treat it as I do my top grain leather as well, but not with the same products

Update update update

So the paint did start cracking. I wrote to SEM and they first checked lot codes for paint, all good. Then they asked if I was sure it was vinyl? Uh oh. I'm not sure, just assumed. Can anyone verify if these seats are vinyl or not? I was told by SEM that leather needs a different prep coat but if these seats are leather, that is the cheapest leather anything I've ever seen. If anyone can verify this material, please let me know so I can tell SEM.
So plan B will probably be seat covers for the short term and then I'll order some good material and sew up some new skins. I'll keep you posted.

See my post #8. Bonded leather was used extensively especially in lower end RVs in the mid last decade. So in 17 that's what you likely have. There is no repairing it unless you consider replacing with new a repair. Either new seat covering or slip covers is the answer. Research bonded leather so you know what you are dealing with. Some good articles on it that go into much greater detail than we can cover here. There are some supposed vinyl, I'll use that term for a synthetic covering, that Weill pen. Don't expect honest answers from a chinese supplier though.

Thanks for reply! Bonded leather? wow. I'll send that info to SEM just to see what they say.

No guarantee that's what it is but highly likely. Cheap non-repairable crap.

All the Tuscany coaches were Ultraleather as are the majority

If it was Bonded leather it deteriorates without usage

Interesting

I purchased a couple higher end bar stools that i couldn't find with leather seats

After a few months the contact area at the front us getting fuzzy and loosing the orange peel

Must be the same material used by RV furniture manufacturers

I am going to try somthing different and ultimately replace it with gray top grain leather

I have posted awhile back that our seats flacked and peeled badly, so bought some seat covers for them. Does the job a lot cheaper than recovering or replacing.
Had the same thing happen to two recliners we bought for the house. No replacement or warranty coverage from store either. So bought fitted covers for them also. Like the other posters said, this was a wide spread problem in the furniture business and most have covered their arses pretty well. You can read a lot about it on the web.

I found some Ford OEM seat covers on ebay, new condition for the cab. It was from somewhere in IN, so I figure it's somebody getting the seat covers that the RV builders are throwing out to put on their covers to match the sofa.
Taught myself a little about upholstery and put them on
Wife found a cheap fabric sofa that fit & I replaced the original with it.
and we had a local upholster replace the vinyl accents on the dinette

I kept the crappy old sofa in the garage. The replacement sofa is so cheap I figure I'll eventually need to recover it...I can't find a quality replacement at an affordable price that'll fit.

If you don't mind me asking, what did it cost to have all that work done?

Everyone seems to have a different opinion of the cost of quality. Our dual recliners (manual) with center console was $1700. Fit perfectly. Look great. Perfect color match? No. But fits the color of everything else. 2 years and seem to be wearing well. I can’t see any wear. Not leather but a leather looking fabric. We’re very happy.
