Ford 6.7 doesn't start

Hi guys, First time, long time.

I should have posted this here. Sorry.

We have a Super C 35SB and when I turn the key to start it........nothing. A very slight click under the hood but that's it. The two engine batteries read 12.8V and adding in the house batteries doesn't make any difference.

I'm thinking loose connection?

Thoughts?

Places to look?

TIA

Are you breaking down camp or heading out on new trip? Jacks up? Slides in? Give us a little background on where you are and what happened just before this. You can try wiggling the shifter a little while trying to crank...could be the "park lockout" switch. Also try cranking it in "N".

When you post something here, stay online for a bit...there's always a troll or two with a fire extinguisher. Folks want to help but don't want to hang out waiting on you to come back...nor do we want one of our family sitting in the middle of the highway with an emergency.

Thanks Gritz!
In order to put down the levelers it has to be running, so I went to restart it after walking the dog, to do that.
I haven't done anything yet. Just arrived. No slideout, awning, nothing.
I hear a very small click under the hood, but not the kind of starter solenoid noise I would expect. But this is my first diesel and I'm a little uncertain.

Oh, and we've been traveling for a week with no issues and have just arrived at this park in Gulfport Mississippi

I tried moving the shifter and in neutral. No luck.

I'm at a loss here. Maybe call a Ford dealer near you...ask for service manager...maybe they can tell you a few things to check over the phone.

Thanks, will do.
I made sure that the slideout was as in as it could be and did the same for the awning

You might want to pop the hood and look for a breaker near the chassis battery--Thor seems to put those on every battery. A small black box with a red button on it. If there is a yellow "flag" showing, push it back in.

you have 2 chassis batteries, remember. Also, have you had any DEF warning lights or messages?

I don't see the fuse blocks mentioned on either one. Nothing unusual on the dashboard except no glow plug symbol lit?

Have you checked to make sure that all of the connections to the batteries are good & tight?

There's your clue...that light (as you know) should only come on for a second or two and hardly at all if the weather is reasonable warm. If it stays on, it's telling you pre-ignition is not hot enough yet...a result of not enough juice in the batteries. Sounds like it's a battery related issue. As advised, let generator run a while or see if someone around you has a vehicle with enough battery power to jump you. As it's now early morning, you've probably already done this. Looking forward to your update.

I have a solar system with four house batteries at 13.7V that I can connect in case the engine batteries get low. When I do this it makes no difference.
The engine batteries connections are tight and they are showing those green eyes. I'll take readings this morning.

I put the slide out overnight so I have to bring it back in this morning so the lockout doesn't effect our next attempt.

I have a local mechanic coming at eight and will report back.

I know there's a switch to stop you from starting the engine if the slide or awning is out. Are there any others? We're only a week on the road and I have had a hard time getting specific info on this model, even from Thor tech help. I guess they didn't get much passed along when they took over.

Thanks again guys.

Super C's are new and lots of people "up there" have lots to learn about them. I took the factory tour in December and was pleased to see the future of this model in their eyes. Lots to come!! Other than the Ford chassis, this coach body is nearly the same as some of the bigger A's with the same brand components, so many of those guys can chime in as well on issues rear of the driver's seat. Sorry for your issues. I'm very interested in knowing the resolution. I think you've tapped out most of what could cause the problem. Slides must be in, jacks must be up, etc. Curious...you mentioned 4 batteries...this came with 2 6V's, right? Where did you install the other two?

Could this be a problem with the starter, or the solenoid?

Just another thought...have you "unplugged" the slides at the controller and re-plug them (two white outside wires on control module)...maybe a reset? They say you can push another button somewhere 6 times and hold it on the 7th for a few seconds until the lights blink or something like that. Again, someone will come in the room soon that knows that process. It could be the slide lock out feature as you mentioned. Unplugging the white wires as above will allow the slides to be pushed in and out manually...it unlocks the motors. Plugging them back in will lock the motors back. Make coffee for the mechanic now...25 till!!

I like Bob's thinking on the connections, only I am thinking the other end.
Have you checked cable connections at cable end not at battery?
Just a thought.
