freedom elite junk

I sold my 2021 freedom elite 22fe. Nothing but problems and camping world didn't prep the rv at all. It had a big leak, frig didn't work steering was very loose, hitch had missing bolts and nuts after 500 miles. Not tightened at factory plumbing leaks, black water pull close to impossible to close. We were told the half open black water value was closed by Camping World resulting in me getting black water dumped on ME! Black Water gray water indicator lights switched. rv door didn't close right. I lost a ton of money when I sold it. Never buy a Thor or deal with Camping World.

The rule is never buy from CW (lots of posts).

The next rule is never buy the private label versions of Thor products from CW or Gander....

https://www.freedom-motorhomes.com/f...or-plans/22fe/

These are exclusive to CW from a brand name end, made by Thor in their facilities. Hence CW has a large sway in the design and final component selection to get the 'value' price they want. QA is a cost that CW has no idea what it is.

Just my 2 cents.

I'm sorry to see that your experience was "less than ideal..."
Do you still feel as if you want to give camping a try; or are you done with it entirely?
There are other ways to deal with the issues that involve build quality problems. I hope that you can find the right one for you.

You do know that Thor owns Jayco..... along with about 17 other RV brands.

Now Jayco is a good name in the industry but you have to be careful saying never by a Thor because there is a chance even though it isn't a Thor name plate it may still be part of Thor Industries.

Some folks don’t realize that Thor Industries is the controlling or parent entities of a large number of operating units. Jayco and Tiffin to name two are under the Thor Industries umbrella but not under the control of Thor Motor Coach which produces numerous models. In the past when someone such as Damon or Four Winds was acquired by Thor they went under TMC. That did not happen with Jayco and Tiffin.

I really hate to see people painting with such a broad brush. Your experience is your experience but it is not universal. My Freedom Elite was very nearly problem free and the one issue I had with it (a loose mud flap behind the rear wheel) was handled immediately, effectively and courteously by Thor. I’ve purchased 4 RVs from three different CWs. No complaints. All RVs are “maintenance intensive”though.

Also have FE

We also have a freedom elite which has had some issues, largest being a problem with the slide. We are 2 days from an appointment at Thor. They are fixing it at no charge. I have been fortunate to deal with a couple wonderful customer service people.
Need to give them a chance.

I think the half closed black valve is hilarious.

I'm guessing it was an
Attitude to the service department gets you a half closed black valve
Situation.

'I'll see your petulance and raise you a half open black valve...later. My iou is as good as gold.'
'I will gladly pay you a shit-storm on Thursday, for your tirade today'

A lesson for all to us to consider regarding beratement of service folk.

A little off subject but the Thor Dealer I bought my Axis from had a big selection of the Airstream trailers, on my last trip to the river a few weeks ago I got behind an Airstream an it did not look quite right, well when the guy took the next left turn I got an eye full and it was a motorhome and not a trailer, it had the Airstream logo on it, is this a factory job or is this a custom build?

Airstream made Class A motorhomes for a while. I don't know what all years, but some of the ones from the 80s have the iconic Airstream look.

There are some listed on RVTrader:

Currently there’s a dually Mercedes Class B with an Airstream logo
Sticker price is $257,913

With a little negotiation they’ll knock off $20k

We haven't seen numbers like that since 1969; when Ski Doo had over 50% of the snowmobile market.

our 2019 30FE has the black and grey tank sensors reversed also. It is annoying.
