Freezer too cold, fridge barely upper 30's low 40's

put the fridge to full use this weekend and my freezer was in the -10s while the fridge was barely in the 30s. 2010 Thor, Norcold. It has the little black thermistor.

What model Norcold?
What was the temperature setting on?
How cold was the outside temp & inside RV temp?
What temps do you expect for Freeze & Fridge?

I run my unit on 3 stars, but if I have on 4 to 5 stars depending on weather my beer will start to freeze. I think -4 is coldest I have seen on my Freezer? You say Fridge is barely in the 30s; so I assume you mean like 39* for fridge and that to me sounds awesome. I love Norcold.

Too cold in the freezer? No such thing! -10 is a good freezer temp rarely achieved in an RV unit.

However below 32 in the fridge is a problem. Our Norcold will do that if we set the 1 to 5 switch too low. I'm assuming your Norcold doesn't have that? So you're left with adjusting the thermistor position. Lookup/download the manual and I'm sure the procedure for adjusting the temperature is in there.

N611. I guess I could have set it higher, had it on 2. But ambient temperature was 40 to 50s and the freezer was like -12. Okay maybe I'm not doing enough homework to see this is the norm.

I thought moving the thermistor would lower the freezer and raise the fridge

The research here counts as homework

You doing good, in fact; I hope all of posters that complain about Norcold as being NeverCold gets to read you posts for a 8 year old unit

I have newer unit so I have 5 snowflakes for settings. 1 snowflake is as warm as I can set it. Based on your ambient temps I would set mine as 1 snowflake.
We normally have on 3 snowflakes and go to 4 snowflakes when it is really really hot outside.

A freezer is never too cold IMO. -12* is outstanding for an absorption refrigerator's freezer. Our issue with our Norcold, as ACE stated, is trying to balance the settings to not freeze up stuff in the fridge and still keep the ice cream hard.

The fridge won’t cool well if it is very full. It helps to put a fan I. It to circulate the air. These are very simple machines and air needs to circulate over the cold fins. That’s all it’s got!

Very good point about the fan! I never think of it till we are out somewhere with a full fridge trying to keep everything cold.

Yeah I did have quite a few items in there and was getting different temps in different areas, thanx.

I had to use two fans in my 4 door fridge in the Landmark to keep it cool on hot days

It had the vent fans added also on the back

Wire them on the hot side of your light switch

We also added fan behind fridge...helps a little. Keeping awning out to shield sun from fridge I think also helps. Lastly, have found that these absorption fridges take a long time to cool/stabilize if you just added items that were not already cold. Can take hours before freezer and fridge balance back to normal...even at 5 star setting. When preparing for a trip we chill everything in the house fridge first...while rv fridge is cooling down...then move stuff to rv fridge. Hope that helps

Before we went to residential fridges we use a hunk of dry ice to rapidly cool down, and of course started them a day early

There are several forums regarding how to tweak adsorption fridges

How did this thread go from an OP complaining about his 12 year old 2010 Norcold freezer that is in the -10s while the fridge was in the 30s, go to all of the suggestions on how to cool a Norcold Absorption fridge?

I have had my 2019 Norcold freezer 2 1/2 years and if I have set on too many snowflakes (3, 4 or 5) my ice and beer will freeze in the fridge. Unless I am missing something, I think if a Norcold Freezer owner post a topic his/her Fridge not cooling properly, I am convinced that it is improper installation to begin with or some key component has gone defective. I think the latter is true if you have a Residential Fridge too.

What are you? The thread police? Find something else to do. Your self-righteous sarcasm is annoying.
