Axis 24.1 bedroom USB panel

Hi all,

My bedroom USB panel no longer works, and I have no idea where the fuse might be (if that is the issue). It worked when I picked up my RV.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Sharon

Usb panel

Just a thought on solution. We have a Windsport and the USB panel did not work from when we first got our coach. We pulled the panel off to check if we could see an issue there. The wires were not even hooked up all parts there just not connected to make it work. My husband connected them and they work just fine. May be yours came apart??

The usb panel is wired to one of the DC fuses in the distribution panel. It doesn't charge my wife's tablet but charges mine fine. It really needs heavier wire.

Not necessarily. Standard USB jacks only provide 500ma of current. That is sufficient to charge most cell phones. High power/charging USB jacks can provide as much as 2amps of current (which is enough for tablets). Yes the jacks are regulated, it isn't the wire size that limits the current.

2amps at 5V is only 10 watts. Most automotive amp wiring charts show 18 gauge wire is plenty big enough for that (for even 25'): Wire Gauge Amps Ratings for 12 volt Automotive Systems

It is very likely that Thor put the cheapest USB charging jacks in that they could find--which would only provide 500ma.

When I added jacks (our 24.1 is old enough that there are no jacks or radio in the back) I made sure that they all were 2 amps.

Hey JamieGeek - any links to what 2 amp jacks you installed in your RV? Or pics?

I started a thread about it when I installed them:
http://www.thorforums.com/forums/f27...orts-3116.html

Ah it looks like one port is 1A and the other port is 2A in each.
