Front Body Panel Cracking At Headlight On Axis

Found this Tuesday while I was trying to get my chassis battery charged. The picture is where the engine panel raises, at the headlight. The picture is of the driver's side. The passenger side is doing the same thing. Crack is coming from the upper inside of the headlight. Anyone seen this before? Going to take it in to CW next week.

Dropped Off

Dropped the Axis off at CW today. My wife found more cracking on the front panel, passenger side, at the where the panel is attached to frame, while I was pointing out the cracks to the service advisor. Didn't get a picture of that, wish I would have. I am a bit concerned with so many places cracking on the front cap, that is a big piece. Seems to me that it may be installed in such a way that it is stressing at the mounting points.

Also, we have had heavy rains and I did not find any leaks. This morning during a light rain, there was dripping from the top molding, just forward of the drop down bunk, onto the dash, just next to the instrument panel. Also, the drivers side window has a small leak. Pointed that out to them. Wondering if the leak may be from cracks on the front cap we haven't found.

I believe I’d speak to a good body shop. One that works on corvettes maybe.

Spoke to CW Thursday. It is in the body shop and they are trying to determine why the body is cracking. This makes me feel good. I was afraid they would just repair cracks without finding out why the cracking has occurred. To me it has to be misalignment of the front cap that is putting stress on those points, and others that I cannot see. CW rep told me that they were looking into that.

We had a cracking engine hood on our 2016 24.1 hood. Thor replaced the hood which also had to be painted.

Picked Up Today

The cracking was in the gel coat and paint only, was not in the fiberglass. The spots were repaired by sanding/ repainting and look good. CW rep said that Thor told them that is was most likely caused from being stressed during installation. Body tech said there was no stress on the cap when they completed repair.
