Gap between shower walls & pan

Something that has always bothered me since buying our RV new 2 years ago is the gap between the bottom of the shower walls and the pan. I can't tell if there's a decent overlap (the pan edge extending up behind the wall).

I've considered running a bead of silicone around there to seal it, but not sure it's intentionally left unsealed by design. What I don't want is to discover a few years from now that - due to that gap - water has been wicking behind the wall and under the pan.

Any opinions/suggestions from experience welcome!

I have seen discussions about this in the past.
The gap might actually have to be there; in order to prevent condensation,and mold growth on the walls behind the stall.
But I'm not sure...

there's an overlap there....and it's by design
so that any water that does get behind there can get out
although I'm not convinced it's necessarily a good design in this case...
Looks like I have the exact same shower liner.
I wouldn't worry if it's aligned well and looks nice but mine was a bit more open that I'd like and so I caulked with my favorite laytex caulk just to prevent splashing up inside there. Did it many years ago and as far as I know there's problems form it. I'm also quite comfortable that there would be no issue if I had left it open.

I have toured four different Thor Inds Factories in the past 6 years. Thor has never caulked the shower pan. Generally the shower pan is open to the inside of the coach is several places. Mine pan is in the the heater, electrical and water chase. It is accessible from the propane heater side and the bedroom side. I have never seen any water in the chase after the shower was used. It is the official Thor Plant 750 position that the gap between the shower sides and the pan should never be calked or sealed.

I had the same concerns about the gap in my 2020 ACE 33.1. I called Thor and they assured me that it was designed like that. Still had my doubts and went back to dealer to look at more Thor coaches. Sure enough, they all had that gap.

Thor told me by design..if sealed a water leaks mold will build up..so I left it..just make sure level or tilted towards drain

Thanks everyone for your replies. The fact that Thor states "as designed" is compelling... just leave it alone - which is my plan.

I have followed many other threads regarding shower leaks, but all seem to be from drain or supply issues. One less thing to worry about!
