Gas cap indicator light is on:-(---2018 Thor Vegas 25.3

Happy Hump Day RV family!

We took our 'Blue' out this past weekend and had a blast. As we were departing and heading back home, the gas cap indicator light came on the dash. This is the very first time, we had no need to fuel up before we left, I checked the cap, it was securely on, last night we went to fill the tank up and the light is still on, any ideals or recommendations? We have a 2018 Thor Vegas 25.3. Have a great day:-)

Dee

Read your Ford owners manual and become familiar with the purpose of the malfunction indicator lights.

If the light is on because the gas cap was not fully sealed, it can take a while for the system to reset and the light to go off. Sometimes as much as 1/2 tank or more of driving.

If you don't have a CEL (check engine light on) and it is only the gas cap light, I would remove it, tighten it until it clicks and then drive for a while and see if it goes off.

If not, then there could be an emissions related sensor problem... although they usualy trip the CEL.

Again means the cap is not sealing correctly. Take the cap off and clean the gaskets and wipe a thin coating of vaseline on the gasket. Check the filler nozzle and make sure the sealing surface isn't dented or corroded. When fueling don't jam the nozzle in as it could dent the filler tube and cause a leak and the caution light.
