Guide to Class C Maintenance

Hello All,

I am a new Class C Owner bought a New Freedom Elite 30FE in July and I would like to get off to a good start on maintaining it. Is there any good books, Guides, etc. that I can use to make sure I am maintaining all the systems etc. as needed. I also have an extended warranty and want to make sure they can't claim I didn't keep up with my maint. If a situation were to arise.

There are two areas to maintain on your new motor home. The first being vehicle maintenance as per the chassis manufacturer requirements which would be located in the book that came with the chassis(oil changes, fluid changes...). Then there is the coach maintenance. You should have received many books from the various equipment manufacturers that supplied the items installed inside your motor home(air conditioner, water heater, awning...) that you can read and follow. As far as the other things to consider(slide maintenance, tire pressures...) there are many great YouTube videos you can watch(search rv maintenance). If you have specific questions on an item, just ask it here and someone will have an answer for you.

I guess that the biggest maintenance concern should be the roof...
Inspect it often!

Many RV Extended Service Plans (also referred to as extended warranties) require that the roof be inspected on an annual or other time sensitive basis. Read your extended service plan and highlight any gotchas that may be in the contract.

If you perform services yourself you need to document when the services are performed, what was performed and maintain receipts.

RV Life has come out with a cloud based subscription service app that I am taking a look at. It does cost but so far I like the features. One downside one thing I addressed with them is tracking DEF usage and although I didn't like their recommended solution I came up with a method that fits my needs.

The photo is the dash board when entering the system and the attached document is my maintenance schedule so far. I have not entered all of the equipment so it has not listed all of the maintenance required. For some items they have the maintenance requirements but for others you have to set the maintenance schedule.

Read the fine print in your extended warranty, some require that the coach be inspected at certain intervals by "qualified persons/technicians" otherwise the warranty is void.
I agree the roof being the main source of water leaks which is the biggest killer of RVs. The roof should be inspected, cleaned & caulking renewed/refreshed if necessary at minimum twice a year, more is better.
As RVs go there will never be an end to some sort of maintenance or repairs as long as you own it, it's a 7.0 earthquake going 60-65 mph every time you hit the road.
You're best plan is to learn, if not a bit if a handyman, to do all the maintenance you're physically able or mechanically inclined enough to do, otherwise your coach will sitting more at the dealership than at your favorite campsite.
