Heater

Hello from Mammoth Lakes. When setting the control to furnace, the air conditioning ceiling unit comes on. Can anyone help.
Thank you.
JKeith

You don’t have your coach listed, but it Looks like you have a wire misconnected or crossed either at the thermostat or the A/C controller located in the A/C unit above the couch. Do not trust the wire colors to be the same at both the thermostat and A/C controller. Tech I had in to look at mine said “the wire bundle is the same from the thermostat to the controller”. Mine was not. Not the first time I have run into this.

So what has changed between December when you had it working and now?

Not sure what unit you have but we needed to change the fan from low or high to auto. Then the AC didn’t come on when the furnace came on.

On basic RV thermostats usually the wiring terminals are labelled. The Y terminal should be connected to the air conditioner control relay in the ceiling plenum (call for cooling); the W terminal should be connected to the furnace (call for heat). Sounds like the two wires are reversed? Note the G terminal usually controls the fan speed for the air conditioner and typically connects through a fan speed switch to connect to either a low or high speed control wire up to the air conditioning controls in the ceiling plenum. Did someone do the analog to digital thermo conversion recently?

If this is a problem with a new coach (only 5 Posts and he doesn’t say) it could also be those wires are switched at the A/C controller. Since Thor does not seem to always use continuous wires from the thermostat to the controller, it is easy to mix up the wires at the controller if they used different color splice wires,

Make sure you are only turning on the furnace and not the HEAT pump which circulates through the roof air unit. If you turn on the heat pump, the roof unit takes several minutes to heat up which feels like the air conditioning is on.
