Exclamation Heater/Furnace

Vegas 25.3 2016

Anybody know how to get the heater to lite?
Blower comes on but burner will not ignite.
We are not out of propane because the fridge and stove still run. It is a new filled bottle.

Does the fan run continuously or time out after about 30 seconds?

If it runs continuously the control board may be wet or bad.

If it times out after 30 seconds can you hear it trying to ignite (sparking) before it times out? If not you may have a bad igniter or a bad board.

Thanks.. we figured that was going to be the problem. We’ll have to get it replaced I guess.

Get what replaced? You didn't answer any of the questions. You may know the answers, but that doesn't help anyone else reading this thread.

Oh.. sorry. It’s running about 30 seconds and then goes off. So we’re thinking it’s probably a bad igniter.

Seems very typical for some reason that the control boards have to be replaced. We had to have ours replaced on our very new 24.1 Axis. Oh yes, also on our new SOB..... Atwood.

Do you hear any sounds of sparking occurring? If the fan is shutting off after 30 seconds it sounds like the sail switch is not proving air flow from the fan to the control board. On some furnaces the sail switch is mounted on the front of the motor housing (easy access); on others it is inside the fan housing and a PIA to get to. Sometimes they stop working because of pet hair or other debris that gets caught up in the switch mechanism. There are various videos on you tube showing some examples of checking the sail switch.......or it could be a simple loose wire connection. It might well turn out to be the board but check your wiring and sail switch operation.

On mine the furnace lit but shut down due to no flame sensed. I tried the igniter (which is also the flame sensor) but no difference. Ended up replacing the board with a Dinosaur board.

circuit boards fail on these things a lot. Could also be a defective sail switch. Very easy to change and cheap too. On my newer motorhome the furnace would do the same thing. I made appointment for warranty service but it started working before I made it there. this has happened several times now on different trips. The dealer will not fix it if it's working and I hate waking up cold in the middle of the night. So I blew out the the dust with compressed air and replaced the circuit board, sail switch and overheat sensors since they were cheap and easy. So far so good knock on wood!
