Bilstein Shock Question

We have a 2022 Axis 24.3 on a Ford F-350 chassis that we would like to upgrade with Bilstein shocks. If you have upgraded your Axis/Vegas with Bilstein shocks which model did you install?

I have them on an older e450.
but
They're for a very specific reason due to a mod and except for an added length I needed, they've added nothing to anything.

Why do you want to change and what do expect as an outcome?

They've been proved worthless as many times as they've been praised.

We do not like the existing suspension on the rig. At speeds over 45mph, the rig is difficult to hold on the road. We have read many posts about various upgrades that improve handling and stability and are slowly adding components. So far we have added the Safe T Plus steering control and Timbren SES. We had the front end aligned after those mods and tires have been balanced. We make sure that the tires remain correctly inflated. This has improved handling from the factory, but we still would like to do more.

Good Luck. As previous post said many upgrades do not do much. My 30 year tech confirmed this.
Our original factory Vegas doing nothing has worked well. 25k miles. We just averaged 70 to 75 for 4 hours no issues. No pull from trucks etc

Consider adjustable coilspring airbags.
Inexpensive and allows vast custom settings as you drive.
Just the turn of a knob from the cab adjusts for offset weight, ride and lesserly, direct constant sidewind.

Isn't your rig on a E-450 chassis? Mine is on a E-350. That does make a difference as I understand. I heard a rumor that Thor was transitioning to E-450's for all Axis/Vegas models. That would a good move on their part.

What brand would you recommend? I would like to look into that.

There are few brands to recommend.
The brand that offers the auto fill and a manual over-ride, I think it's Goodyear.
Someone on this site has them installed.
I'm sure they'll chirp up.

I do not have them on my RV as I do not have coil springs.
If I had coils, I'd have adjustable bagged coils.

New shocks on your box truck will not make it drive like your daily driver CUV.

But hey, less load as your wallet will be lighter.

Both of those are a given.

What where how.

Where is the knob in the Vegas?

Wherever you have it INSTALLED when you buy the kit.

I have a 2016 Thor Axis 24.1 on a E 450 chassis. We recently traveled from Georgia back to Minnesota fighting the cross winds and truck wash with the RV going all over the road. After researching many YouTube videos and this site, I just ordered a Hellwig front sway bar and Bilstein Front Steering Damper. I'm holding off on other options such as Sumo Springs or Rear sway bar until I see what this change does. Total cost for the parts is under $500 on Amazon. I also had to replace the original tires, which only had 27k miles on them and were cracking. The tires were made in 2014 and 2015 for my 2016 model. I put C-Metric Goodyear Workhorse commercial tires on so we will see how they work out...the ride seems okay now. I don't plan on replacing shocks unless nothing else works since it only has 27k miles on the rig.

Let us know if the ride changes.
We are fortunate to have no chassis mods.

You already have a steering damper - I doubt the Bilstein will make any difference. What you need is a steering stabilizer such as the Safe-T-Plus or the Roadmaster Reflex.

I’ve used that flemeel! Whenever I need water, I just scream into it and say,”may I have a water?”. A few minutes later it appears in my drink holder. Next time I’ll shout”stiffen the air bags” and see if it works.

Damn I'm sorry I missed you on your Grand Canyon trip....

Relatedly;
This week I've added(well, the electrician did. I'm smart enough to do the job, and that makes me smart enough to pay someone else to do the job) 28 more
Alexa/Echo holler at 'em fleemel switches
to the house and shop.

Meross(a brand name) is my fleemel of choice.

They also run the coffee pot, electric space heater, and electric blankets in our 24.1

'Alexa, start the coffee'
Ok, and here's the local weather for where you are right now.
Nearest gas is here xXxX
Nearest cafe is here xxx
Would you like directions?

Fleemel love....

I used up my intended free time to visit messing with a Jack leaking down. It would leak down without a warning light on the panel. I was a little paranoid it would leak down, catch the road, and come rocketing through the floor. Would’ve had a great visit. Maybe next time. Leaving Page tommorow. Heading to Cortez.
