Remove slide out

Has anyone removed a 12' Schwintek slide to gain access to the subfloor?

I haven't but would like to see it done. Where In SC are you? I'm in Weddington NC just South of Charlotte.

Remove Slide

I'm in the planning stage right now. So far I've found out you need to remove the rivets on the out side trim, then the outside trim, remove the interior trim around the box, disconnect the motors, find someone who owns a fork lift, and a few friends to push.

I'm trying every way I know to avoid all of that. If I get to the point I'm going to yank it, I will let you know. I'm in Batesburg-Leesville.

Let me know for sure, looks like it's a couple hour drive from here.
I would bet that you could build a shelf outside the MH, throw some PVC pipe on it and roll that baby out. That way you wouldn't have to rush to get it back in.
Do a utube search you may find exactly what you want to do there. I'm always amazed at what's on there.

Good question. If it's the floor of the slide, I managed to change one of mine without removing the slide. It wasn't a large slide and was a bit of a pain to do, but it turned out okay.

Removing slide out

I just had mine done. 12’ slide out on a 2015 Thor Hurricane. They did not have to remove the slide for the repair and like me, you’ll find they didn’t use actual plywood, so needless to say, water got to it and caused it to swell. I had taken out the furniture prior to taking it in. Next time (I’m sure there will be) I’ll just do it myself. (They also had to replace the slide mechanisms on mine).

Slides should come with retrieval hooks so you have a place to attach a chain from your tractor. This is a corollary to the "hammer" rule. Anything can be removed with large enough chain and tractor. The Hammer Rule States that anything can be fixed with a hammer and that anything can be used as a hammer.
