Help dash camera for flat Thor windshields

Has anyone tried this and does it mount to flat screens?

The suction cup will swivel to a "flat" windshield but the the camera will have it's nose smashed into it. I mounted my dashcam from the overhead so it was a few inches back from the windshield.

How did you mount from overhead?

Haven't experienced that at all and not sure how widespread it is.

I have a YI Ultra dashcam and haven't had any issues with it on the front window of the Axis. I picked it up to record our journeys not necessarily to capture incidence on the road.

I picked up a small project box from Michaels, mounted the camera mount to the bottom of it, drilled two holes large enough for a screwdriver to get through and used 4 screws to mount the box to the bottom of the cabinets above the windshield.
