Electric Steps Clicking

Fixed an earlier problem with Clevis and Carter pin, but now another problem has appeared. Upon retracting, the steps make a click, click, click ...., sound and after a few seconds the clicking disappears. The steps open fine, but make the clicking sound when fully retracted. A few days ago the Clevis was bent and the carter pin sceared off. I replaced those items but now the clicking sound. Maybe both issues are related. Any help would be appreciated.

My guess is that the (3) nylon bushings in the geahead of the motor have cracked. If that is the case, the step operation will cease totally very soon. Those bushings act with the motor current sensing to absorb energy when the steps need to stop at the end of each extension and retraction cycle. Unlike electric car window gearmotors (that resemble these motors) I could not find replacement pieces for those gearmotors. The ones sold for the car window motors are a different size. Might need to buy relacement motor which cost about $60 the last time I purchased one.

90% of the time that clicking sound means the nylon bushing in the motor broke. In my case it was actually a metal tooth in the gear box

call lci tech support. They sent me a new motor, gear box, and controller for free. Great customer service. They stand behind thier product
