Gray Water Tank Leak On Top

We have a 2018 Thor Four Winds 28Z 30' RV, and the gray water has a leak on top of the tank. I can't get to the top without lowering the tank down. Is it worth trying to lower this thing, or should I have a repair company do it? My biggest fear is if I lower the tank, it'll break the seal completely and I'll be missing a part that I need.

Any thoughts on if this is a job I should try to tackle myself?

Your fear is perfectly justified.
It's the story of my life.
Build a jig to build a tool to make a tool to install the two dollar part.
Then the lag strips in the plywood....

There's a whole nest of bad juujuu attached to a gray tank.
I'd pay the labor and have it done.

Or, depending on your layout, consider opening the floor to make the repair with the tank in place. You’d need new flooring after but that might be an opportunity to upgrade the overall look and quality of your coach.

I was thinking of doing this! The toilet is on a ledge and under that ledge is the gray water (black water is on the other side of the coach). But that ledge doesn't look too exciting to have to replace or fix. But definitely still an option!

You think the grey water tank is under the toilet?

If you have a leak in this area I would look closely at the shower drain.

Yeah, very weird place for the gray tank I feel... But I actually just confirmed, it's only the bathroom sink that leaks. So I think it's a fitting in the pipe, but that pipe runs above the gray tank, which is where it starts leaking. The shower doesn't leak, nor does the kitchen sink. I popped my head under the sink, and I don't see any water under there. I don't think I can get to the pipe without taking the gray tank off and getting up in there?

Almost all Thor bathroom sinks drain to the black tank, not the grey tank.

Doesn’t really change your situation though. You still have a tank under the bathroom floor with a leak in the top! If you’re confident that it’s a fitting under the sink you might even get by without damaging the floor - if you can remove the vanity. Depends on where the leak actually is. Good luck.

We got it fixed, it cost $500, but there was a pipe under the toilet but above the tank. So they had to take the tank off, and the toilet, to get it back into place. It's all fixed, stopped leaking, and it no longer smells! And I was mistaken, it was the black tank it was above, not the gray tank.
