Cool Door shock

Well I saw this before we bought our Vegas the step that the door opener shock is hooked to was bending from the door opening had the dealer add some screws on the top side of the plate worked good but then I noticed the stud on the bottom of the door that the shock is mounted to is bending the door frame ,any mods for this I'm thinking of taking it off because I let the door accidentally fly open once in a while . I'll have the dealer look at when they replace the mirrors that are corroded from who's knows what .still working out the kinks but love the coach.going on our first close in trip this weekend .

Bahemi,

Yep, the door does have a problem and the little shock does the best it can. If you find a fix please post it, in the mean time take about 1 foot of a pool styrofoam noodle, split it down the side and place it on the awning arm so the door does not slam into it next time it over opens.

I like the bright blue because it reminds me to remove it when time to close camp.

I have the same problem with mine, but I have a slide right there instead of a awning. Have to look later and see about one on the outside edge of the slide maybe... Good idea...

I did the same thing but used pipe insulation from The Home Depot--granted its grey so harder to notice.

Just cut a slit along one side and slide that onto the awning arm.

2016 Vegas 24.1 Door Shock

My door shock extended too far and now needs replaced. Does anyone have a part number for this shock?

the gas struts come in many sizes. Easiest is to take the strut with you, most RV dealers or auto parts carry replacement. Length and pressure should be on the strut. Might try lower pressure if it's bending bracket.

FWIW I left key in door lock and it was bent when awning was retracted.

I agree: take the "dead one" to any NAPA, Autozone, or Pep Boys, and see if they can match it up for you.

Thanks for the help!

I will take the part with me and match it. Thank you for the advice.
