Hot feet on Passenger side of Ford E-450

I am looking for ideas to reduce the amount of heat that escapes into the cab and especially on the passenger side. I know there is a thread on here about that but can't locate it. Watched RV with Tito and may try that method or use reflextix. Any thoughts or help. I have a 2016 E-450 with a Thor Freedom Elite 22FE on it.

We have a 2016 E450. Get that heat through the floorboard on passenger side too. We took a shaggy throw rug, folded up, placed on floor as an insulation. seems to work okay.

Search for threads on insulating the doghouse. Several people have use the Dynamat under the floor space as well. Some purchase horse stall mat from Tractor Supply and cut to fit for the floor.

I removed the seats and flooring then installed the Amazon version of Dynomat all on the floor. My wife mentioned the heat is MUCH less now. I was doing it mostly for the reduction in sound.

Agree. Did the same thing. I had two complaints from the missus... noise and floorboard heat. I bought a product off Amazon called Kilmat for sound deadening. There are many threads on here about noise reduction. I also bought a mesh/fiber device designed to block exhaust heat.

I removed the cab seats (like ericmac) and covered the floor with Kilmat. After I did a test drive, I found the heat was also dramatically reduced, so I haven't even installed the exhaust heat shielding... it wasn't needed. Two birds with one stone!!

I have a roll of Reflectix -- do you think that would help in reducing heat if I place it under the black plastic flooring on the 2016 E-450? Maybe even use it between the manufacturer's heat shield above that exhaust pipe coming off the manifold..

I would only use it inside the cab...don't put it that close to the exhaust. They make other products to put around the exhaust if needed.

I believe Reflectix will only withstand 180°F. So... it will likely melt around the exhaust temperatures. IMO not a good product for what you're trying to achieve.

Are you talking about the doghouse cover of the engine or the floor?? Carpet on the floor is a good idea but insulating the inside of the motor cover is what I did and that made a HUGE DIFF!!!! Bob Trice
