New RV Shakedown trip

Took our first outing in our new 2021 Thor Four Winds 31WV. Drove 6 hours to northern Arizona. The trip did have it's issues. First, the E450 V10 engine overheated twice, required adding 10 quarts of water in the coolest tank -- this helped us get home. Second, the rear air conditioner only blows hot air. Last, the gray black dump valve is hidden in a compartment. After taking out the screw plate you rotate the valve down and then connect your bayonet style of dump hose. Problem is that the whole is in the wrong position so you cant connect your hose.

Wonderful first trip. I wanted to attach a photo but the forum would not let me?

Did you go Advance in the editing screen so that you can post a pic? In the editing window you should see a paper clip with a down arrow next to it. That is the icon used for posting pics and documents.

Being a very junior member if you try posting a hyperlink the site team will be notified and a moderator will have to approve the post with the hyperlink.

That dump hose connection is something that the dealer will have to correct. I had something similar and had the dealer correct it after I showed him my issue. My set up was different.

Sometimes the coach is designed to use one type of fitting like a long radius elbow and for some reason start installing a short radius elbow causing your problem. Two possible solutions:

If it really is a long vs short radius elbow problem replace the short radius one with long. If not remove that ring on the bottom and position it a few inches forward. Should be able to do that with no glassing but if not the dealer will have to glass in the aft edge of the hole.

Take it to the dealer for warranty repair.

Should have been caught during the PDI.

The dealer is the largest in Tucson. However, I have never seen any group of people so disorganized.

If all manufacturers would hire people with a functioning brain things like this sewer connection would not happen. The guy completing that fiasco had to be blind, completely stupid, on drugs, hung over or a combination of those items. No excuse and it’s not the 1st time mentioned over the years. Should have never happened and certainly not have left the plant

Are you talking about La Mesa? We bought our 2020 Synergy in July 2019 and have been to La Mesa several times for warranty issues. Thor has been good about extending the warranty because of COVID. Back in July when our warranty expired we got a call from Thor saying that they would honor any problems were were having after the expiration. Thought that was good of them! We just had the murphy bed motor replaced and are picking the rig up tomorrow. We needed to give the motor a little help when first retracting the bed and we didn't think that should be.

Cool

Yep regarding the sewer connection problem. I had/have the same problem on my 2021 Axis 25.6.

It's just another simple silly bad design thing. incredibly simple to see once you look at it. It's not the guys on the assembly line. They simply threw in my storage compartment cap, because it can't be screwed in place when the sewer line hangs below the edge of the compartment so that you CAN connect it.

I'm going to go with just putting the covers on the lines, not the compartment. The cap on the compartment is to protect from road debris is my guess.
