How strong is the roof ?

Recently bought a 2015 Majestic 23A. Had it inspected but would like to go up myself occasionally to check things. Being a big guy, (300+) I'm kind of leery of doing that. Can't find anything online and no response from Thor. Thank you

Welcome to the forum!
There's an old saying about this sort of thing: "They're plenty strong enough: until they aren't!"
IF you decide to go up there for an eyeball full: no shoes!
Spread your weight out just as if you were on VERY thin ice.
At 195 lbs: I'm honestly not 100% comfortable in climbing up on my own RV's roof.
But I sell insurance; so that's just me!

I agree with Bob......

I'm 270 and I go up on the roof of my Magnitude but I do not stand or walk. I am on my hands and knees to spread the weight around as much as possible.

I also only go up when absolutely necessary. That's one of the reasons I put EternaBond Tape over every seam and joint on the roof. That keeps me from having to go on the roof to inspect the Dicor every 3 to 6 months. I only plan to hit the roof once a year to clean it and the air conditioners and just make sure everything looks ok.

l am about 265 and walk all over mine. I don't try to distribute my weight. It is very solid feeling ontop. I have felt home roofs mushier than our RV roof.

I am 245 and I basically army crawl on ours. I have this fear of ending up like the scene in Christmas vacation when Clark falls through the attic ceiling. I feel my 6 and 3 year olds would be no help I would have to wait for the wife to find me later.

I think that we all did but in typical guy fashion we didn’t read the instruction manual.

I thought that was the manual for the weed-whacker...

Not the "Guy-whacker"!

Two things:

First, as we all have learned (or are in the process), each and every page in that manual is BLANK!

Secondly, I'd be more concerned about the LADDER than the roof.

I agree with woodbender, I’m 300+ also and I’m more concerned about the ladder Holding the weight. So on the handful of times I went up I used my little giant ladder and basically was on my hands and knees but now my knee is bad so I’m thinking of using a 2x6 plank to walk on and spread the weight out.

One thing is certain: you don't want to end up in a Youtube video!

I have a 2006 Thor Majestic 23A and I have always been weary of getting on the roof as I am about 250. I have a bunch of 1 x 12 shelf boards that I place on the roof when going up there that distribute my weight. I don't like going up there but sometimes you have to to do roof maintenance.

Not mentioned, but if you’re RV does not have a ladder on the back the roof is not ment to be walked on.

I'm 260 lbs and 6' 3" and get on mine a couple times a year. 2017 Tuscany XTE 40BX. No issues but I don't like the top of the ladder though
