What"s the secret

I need to remove the faux wood dash insert in order to fabricate and install a custom iPad holder directly above it.

Can anyone give any tips as to how to go about this?

Thank you in advance

Armando

If it's glued in place: put it under a hair dryer for a bit, and see if the heat softens the glue.
Good luck!

My Thor ACE 29.3 has the same set up. It has some bolts/nuts that are a bitch to get too.

Yeah if its anything like our Axis: Pull out the radio and look for some studs glued to the fascia with nuts holding it in place. Simply (ha) unscrew the nuts.

There would be four: two on the top and two somewhere near the bottom. (You may be able to reach under it to get at the bottom two.)

Pulling out the radio should get you a good look at how its held in place.

I realize these are basically entry level but glue???? Taking the radio out is a good start and as shitty as it sounds I might as well leave it out....... The iPad install will help with many of the existing systems shortfalls, speakers and and small amp will fix the non existent sounds from the stock radio.....

And you may have to pull the doghouse so you can lay on the engine on your back and get your head under the dash to look up to see the nuts.

That didn't sound right I was going to take the doghouse off to insulate for heat and sound , so might as well get it all done now then.......

Armando, our coach is a WindSport 29M and I can only relay our experience.
1st - in my humble opinion I feel the standard Axxera isn’t worth 2 grains of sand,
2nd, we replaced it with a Pioneer after the very first trip and are much happier,
3rd, I had to remove the doghouse and use a heavy moving blanket to lay on because those 4 screws are a pain to get to. Like you plan to do, I double insulated the doghouse. Good grief what a difference!

Armando, please try the advice given here and remove the radio first. I only wish I had asked. Laying on that motor and playing Gumby wasn’t fun. Thankfully we all have similar issues, and many folks have already found a solution. Congratulations for having the great idea to ask before trying like me!

Best of luck to you and happy travels!

Thank you all for the advice, I will get this done in the next week or so and let you know how it went.

I removed the radio and found 6 threaded studs with nuts hold the console in place. Wasn't to bad to get at everything but found lots of stuff back there that was loose.....

On my Palazzo I had to remove the panel to access a broken fan motor. Your radio probably has 4 small holes in each corner. Insert 4 pieces of wire as thick as possible into each hole, this releases the radio clips and the radio can be pulled out. Mark and remove the wires on the back of the radio. There will probably be 4 threaded posts that hold the dash panel in place. Remove the nuts and washers and the panel should come out. Take care not to break the posts off of the panel back.
