Question Hurricane 34P Converter Issue

I have what I believe is a converter issue with my 2017 34P. When I plug into shore power it comes on after the 2 minute delay and immediately goes off. When I turn off the converter circuit breaker, it comes on and stays on, which leads me to believe the converter is Tango Uniform. I put the store/use switch in store mode to disconnect the batteries to make sure it wasnt a DC load issue and the problem stays the same. 3 questions. 1. Has anyone run into this issue and does my diagnosis sound reasonable. And 2, is the converter underneath the circuit brakers in the power control center. I am calling the local RV service place in the morning, but my guess is that they cant get me in before we want to leave for a Thanksgiving trip. In the event I have to fix it myself, I would like to a head start. 3. There are some converters on Amazon. Any recommendation for a replacement converter. Thanks, Johnny

Some ATSs have a built in delay. My PPS ATS has a 70 second delay for shore power and 100 second delay for the generator. My EMS (Progressive) also has a delay of 90 seconds before sure power is applied to the power center. Your coach has an inverter which when on will read actual battery voltage. If the house battery is connected to the power center (use/store-use) and the battery voltage stays above 13.0 volts, your converter is working properly. If the battery voltage drops below 13.0 volts the charger is off.

I wasnt clear enough. Once the time delay passes the shore power comes on and then immediately goes off when the converter circuit breaker is on. When the converter breaker is off, the shore power comes on after the delay and stays on. So it clearly has something to do with the converter.

Thanks

Johnny

What causes the SP to go off? The input breakers in the power center? The pole breaker? Do you have an EMS?

What SP are you plugged into? I assume you have a 50 amp coach. Are you plugged into a 50 amp receptacle?

You may be exactly right that the converter is the issue, but wouldn't the converter's breaker trip if it was TU and drawing too much power?

I am plugged into a 15 amp 120 volt outlet using a 15 to 50 amp adapter. It does the same on two different circuits and it has worked fine in the past. I keep the MH plugged in at the storage place to keep the batteries charged. It does the same with the generator so I not thinking it is input power. With the converter inout circuit breaker turned off, the shore power comes on and works fine. When you flip the converter breaker to on, the shore power shuts off without any breakers tripping. I have thought about going to the local COE campground and plugging into a 50 amp circuit, but, the the fact that it has worked fine in the past makes me believe the converter is the cause of the problem.

Well if SP is just dyeing without any breakers tripping when the AC circuit is loaded (by the converter) then that points to a bad connection.

What happens if you leave the converter breaker open and try another AC load? Like the A/C fan or maybe the water heater on electric (with water in it, of course). This may not be a definitive test if the other load is on a different hot leg than the converter.

The converter can not just turn off SP without something interrupting power.

And since you experience the same symptom with the generator, I would take a close look at your Automatic Transfer Switch connections - a common Thor trouble area - the wire twist locks are usually a poor connection cause.

Fix

Turns out it was a bad wired surge protector. Extended warranty paid minus deductible and the priority fee to get it in before December
