Can we talk LUBRICANTS?

Spring is coming and ski season is ending. I'm going to be doing a MASSIVE spring cleaning to make sure all of the road-grime, chemicals and effects of harsh winter weather are washed away before we start summer activities.I occurred to me that I have a smattering of regular lubricating products that I grab from the garage but I'm not sure if I'm using the right types.

For instance, I normally lubricate my steps with a spray silicone CRC Heavy Duty Silicone but it seems to either dry up or wash away very quickly.

Storage compartment door hinges and latches are another place where I use this stuff. Should I be using a "dry" lube on the latches?

Let me know what your favorite products are.

I use spray silicone on the steps as well as the basement latches and locks. Probably not the best to use as it washes off fairly easily but it is easy to use and if its easy I will do it. If it is a difficult and messy job I will procrastinate, that is human nature.

You might want to look at using a can of CRC Power lube High Performance Lubricant w/PTFE. It dries quickly and does not attract dirt. I use it on my awning arms, doors, steps. It is also used on the exterior door hinges and hydraulic door assists.
