Hypothetical?

I know the tank sensors are totally unreliable but would like to get some opinions on when the blank tank sensors show “full”. Is there some “flex time” here or does that mean you better dump NOW? I dumped at last campground but sensors still showed ¾ full. We have been at this campground for 3 days and now shows “full”. It’s just the wife and I so I find it hard to believe it’s full already. Would just like see what others have experienced.

When the tank starts "burping" back at you during flushes: you've waited more than long enough...
When you hear it: you will know...

Are you at campgrounds without a sewer hookup at the site? If so, I always take my portable tank just in case. If you’ve got sewer, dump it. If it takes less than 10 seconds to empty, your gauges are off. My black tank could be completely dry and it still shows 2/3 full. We’ve got 40 gallon black tank. We go 5 to 6 days before dumping.

We don’t have full hookup here. Again, we usually can go 5 days but this time barely made it 3 days which leads to my question. Bob’s answer about the “burping” maybe the sign I need to watch for. Thanks.

If you have (or installed) a black tank flush and use it a few times a season the sensors can be a bit more reliable at that point (especially after flushing).

I have heard putting a bag of ice down the toilet, just before traveling off, will help clean the debris off of the sensors and possibly more reliable reading.

I guess the ice cubes sloshing against the sensors knocks away the grime.
I have yet to try this, but I understand it helps.

We have 2 black tanks, the sensors on either have never work correctly more or less since we received it Nov 2019

we used every trick on here and the net.

Just tried this, Unique Sensor Cleaner Liquid, filled both tanks to top with hose, let it sit for days. didn't do squat!

even when ours says are full on screen, still a 1/3 of empty tank.
